As a first responder in international disaster relief, Dan Diamond has encountered many in times of stress and tragedy. People pull inward and focus on safety and security and there is a great deal of fear and scarcity that goes on in disaster (such as in Hurricane Katrina.) However, for those that focus away from fear and on love, disasters have the opportunity to change people’s perspectives. The importance of stretching oneself and moving beyond the fear to make a big social impact and to help the next person. Significance over safety; acknowledge the fear, take care and try your best to help others. “If I’m going to make a difference, I have to go outside.”
